Introduce Yourself

Hello all. My name is Jan and I've just joined this club. I "will" be an owner of an Avida Leura Motorhome sometime mid-late 2024. It's on order. This is my first RV. I'm looking forward to it. I will be a solo traveller. I'm planning on travelling around Australia and living permanently in my RV. I will be selling up everything to fund my 5+ years on the road. I'd always wanted to do this so why not now.

The plan is to visit every BIG thing around the country. To be able to stop anywhere for any length of time and move on to the next thing is a dream. As I'm such a newby, I'm spending the waiting time discovering all that I can about my RV and future life.

We are Gay, Rob and Ari McDonald, and we lived aboard our Ericson 39 sailboat from 4 January 2000 until we lost her during floods on 14 February 2023. Ari, our very spoilt Tortie Point Siamese, alerted us to our rapidly sinking, much-loved and well travelled home. It was her 10th Birthday, and without her we would have lost more than we did - not that we saved much, but we saved three lives, and we are starting again from scratch. Rob and I are both in our sixties and are disability pensioners. I teach craft classes for free, currently in Cooktown, and cook most Wednesdays for the local 60 and Better group. Rob is a former cabinetmaker with amazing skills, and can repair outboards, diesels and petrol motors. I love to crochet, paint and sketch, and have sold a number of mosaics, lots of paintings, handmade soaps and shampoo/conditioner…

Hi all,

Our first post and we were once Avida club members. Fell by the wayside with COVID. I am having trouble with my batteries holding charge in my Avida Eyre motor home. I am looking at replacing the two old batteries (the ones at the back of the motor home for lights etc) can any one recommend replacements brand ? I am in South Australia.

Put a deposit on a 4 year old Kea Nomad this week, pick it up in the new year.

This is our first adventure into RV's, wondering how many others here have Kea Nomads and how you find them?
