Hi, I am new to the group, and have a question about my HWS in my 5th Wheeler. I only purchased my van a few months ago and live in it permanently on a farm property. I do not intend moving it anytime soon. I am connected to electricity and water. I was told by the previous owner that she only turned on the HWS (electricity) when she needed it.....ie: half an hour before a shower or washing up. She said it will just keep heating the water and wastes power. I argue that once the HWS reaches its temperature the heater cuts out surely? I hate not having hot water all the time......and have to think ahead will I need it today? or not.... Can I leave it on all the time?😉

this is what your anode looks like when you never, ever change it.....
Ok so I dont know if you are meant to but i went away with 3 girls and they were shockers in the shower so i turned the gas and 240v ac on it heated a lot quicker , I cant see a problem as they cut out at temp just get there faster , I can have a long shower if i have gas and elect on at the same time as my showers are not real hot so i use more cold water , Just turn the gas off after . Yes the gas has a pilot light that is on all the time and turns the gas up to heat the water , give it a go see how it works out , im in nowra so its not that cold here by the cost , Rob
Bunnie one thing to look at is the water pressure if you are connecting to a tap (as in not pumping from your tank ) i would suggest a water pressure fitting so your pipes dont blow , I got mine from a camping shop it just screws onto the tap and then the hose clips on to it , Enjoy B.J.T
Its ok to leave it on , i now live in my RV and its on all the time , I believe having on and a constant tep would be better that Hot Cold cycles Just remember to change the anode every year (There cheap ) about $16 I but 5 at a time for $60 on ebay
